I live in south Florida right now, so we see a bit more sun than other folks. For a period of four to six months thus far, I have charged my phone exclusively by the sun. I think my phone's battery is growing flowers it's so green.
Some caveats about charging phones: when a phone is on, it will draw energy to run and also draw energy to charge the battery. It sometimes takes 4 hours of autumn/winter sun (in south Florida) to charge my phone's battery, and sometimes that doesn't even get it to a full charge. This solar panel has no way to store charge, it can only deliver charge (unreliably).
If you get this device, I highly recommend purchasing a USB battery booster. I bought a Lumsing 10400 mA portable power bank. It takes one or two days off this solar panel to charge from empty to full, but it can fully charge my phone at least 3 times before it is dry. On cloudy days that might only get my phone charged an extra 25%, the battery fully charges my phone. On sunny days that could charge my phone in 4 hours, the battery charges my phone in less than one. This solar panel in combination with a sizeable USB battery booster is super useful to buffer the unreliability of the sun due to clouds, night time, or weekend trips without the panel.
